Call to Worship (Responsive)
Adapted from Psalm 30
L: We glorify you, O God, for you have raised us up.
P: We cry to you for help, and you have healed us.
L: Sing praises to the LORD, faithful ones,
P: We give thanks to his holy name.
L: You have turned our mourning into dancing;
P: You have clothed us with joy.
L: Let all of our souls praise you, O God;
P: And let us give thanks to You, forever.
Invocation:
We come together seeking your word, and seeking your guidance, O God. We have heard of your mighty deeds of healing and hope, and we gather in wonder and awe. Help us in this time of worship, to hear and trust in your word. Empower us to DO that which you call us to do; even if it sounds too simple. Help us to faithfully worship you, O God, and continue to love us as your faithful people. We offer ourselves in this time of worship, and our prayers in the name of Jesus the Christ.
Stewardship Moment:
The Apostle Paul tells the Galatians “do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow.” When we come before the table of our Lord with our tithes and offerings, we sow devotion to God and God’s teachings. We demonstrate that we are faithful to God’s call to care for our neighbors, to share with the needy, to feed and clothe the poor, to support the work of the saints. As God receives these signs of faithfulness, God has already returned more in love, grace and mercy. We will now receive the tithes and offerings which demonstrate our devotion to God.
Offertory Prayer:
Ever loving and faithful God, we bring these gifts before you knowing well the good work that they will do. We ask your blessings on the gifts, and those who have brought them, that all may be used to further your reign on earth. We offer them not out of obligation, but in loving response to all which you continue to give. Amen.
Communion Meditation:
When Jesus sends out the seventy for the “harvest is plentiful tour”, he tells them to “cure the sick who are there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’” We come to this table seeking healing and wholeness from the sin and brokenness in our lives. Through this bread and this cup, we are healed. As we come remember: the kingdom of God has come near to you; and rejoice.
