Call to Worship (Responsive)
Adapted from Psalm 119
L: Oh how I love your law, it is my meditation all day long;
P: Your commandment makes me wise, for it is always with me.
L: Your decrees are my meditation,
P: and I keep your precepts.
L: I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word.
P: I do not turn away from your ordinances, for you have taught me.
L: How sweet are your words to my taste,
P: Sweeter than honey to my mouth.
Invocation:
As we celebrate another day in your Sanctuary O God, we are thankful to be gathered together. Help us to know your presence and to hear your word. Be with us as we offer our prayers and petitions, and make us away of your answer. Guide our worship, O God, that it may be a pleasing sound to you.
Stewardship Moment:
Jesus teaches in the Gospel of Luke about perseverance in prayer. I think the same could be said of our giving. For no matter how generous we are in giving, we cannot out give God, who sees our generosity, and blesses all the more. Let us now receive the tithes and offerings, which show our love for God.
Offertory Prayer:
We bring our gifts, O God, while offering our thanks and praise for all that you have done, and all that you are going to do. We ask your blessing on these gifts, and these acts of giving that through them others may come to know the joy of life in the light of your Son, Jesus Christ.
Communion Meditation:
The prophet Jeremiah reminds us that God declared long before the time of Jesus that God will make a new covenant, and will “forgive their iniquity and remember their sin no more.” That new covenant was made in the gift of Jesus Christ, and we remember it at this table. Come and receive the blessing of the new covenant which God promised and delivered.
