Call to Worship (Responsive)

Adapted from Psalm 119

L: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

P: We have promised to observe your righteous ordinances, O LORD.

L: Give us life, O LORD, according to your word.

P: Accept our offerings of praise, O LORD.

L: As we journey through life, help us remember your law.

P: Help us not to stray from your precepts.

L: Your decrees are the joy of my heart.

P: And we will perform your statutes forever, Amen.

Invocation:

We are here, O God, because you have called us together. We give thanks and praise to you, who has inspired our hearts and motivated each one of us to come together in your name. We seek to draw nearer to your Holy Spirit, which guides and orders our steps. We have come to claim our inheritance, the blessing of the Creator. Fill our hearts with praise and our mouths with joy as we sing praises in the name of the one who is our help and our salvation, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Stewardship Moment:

The parable of the sower is one of the most familiar of all of Jesus’ teachings. You know the one: birds, rocky ground, thorns, and good soil. What if that parable was about these little stewardship moment talks we have each week? What if the words said here were the seeds? Which kind of soil would you be? Which kind would you like to be?

We will now receive the gifts of tithes and offerings for the work  of our Lord and savior, to spread the word of God.

Offertory Prayer:

Bless these gifts O God, and use them in your service. We offer them out of love for you and a desire for goodness to come forth. We offer our gifts and ourselves again, O God, in Christ’s holy name.

Communion Meditation:

Here at this table, we celebrate the ultimate victory of the Spirit. We celebrate the gift of Jesus Christ, which frees us from the law of sin and death. At this table we remember that God has done what the law could not do. Come to the table, celebrate, eat, drink, and remember the wonderful things God has done for you.
