Call to Worship (Responsive)

Adapted from Psalm 118

L: The LORD is our strength and our might.

P: The LORD is our salvation.

L: Open the gates of righteousness,

P: That we may enter and give thanks to the LORD.

L: For Christ the LORD is risen!

P: Christ is risen, indeed!

Invocation :

We are here, Almighty God, because we have heard the Good News!  Sin and death are defeated, for Christ has risen! We have come to hear the story anew, to celebrate and give thanks.  Allow your Holy Spirit to Arise again in each of us assembled.  Teach us of your mighty acts, and we will celebrate with glory, honor and praise.  Receive our worship, O God, we ask in the name of the Risen Savior. Amen.

Stewardship Moment:

It is Easter Sunday!  We celebrate by bringing before God our Easter Special Offering.  This offering is arguably one of the most important ones of the year.  It supports the work of our General Ministries:  Missionaries, Delegates, Benevolence, Program, and so much more depend on this offering.  If you have heard the story of a Missionary, or a Care Center, or a General Ministry Program, or a partnership ministry of the church this year and it has touched your heart, this offering is the one which makes a difference.  When we talk about our worldwide presence, we support that with the Easter Special offering.  When we collectively seek to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, and offer Christ’s Presence, we support that work with today’s special offering. We will now receive the tithes and offerings which help to make the Disciples Worldwide presence possible.

Offertory Prayer:

Abundantly giving God, we bring before you our gifts.  Use them to multiply your presence throughout the world.  Grant each of us a heart of celebration for the difference we know these gifts will make.  Use each of us to spread your story as well.  For we offer these gifts and ourselves in the Name of Christ our Lord.

Communion Meditation:

Here we are, back at the very same table we gathered around on Thursday.  We remembered then the solemn moments and ominous tone.  Today, we gather again, this time not thinking about death, but celebrating LIFE!  This table holds not only the promise of forgiveness, but the promise of everlasting life.  Come and celebrate the risen and victorious Christ, our Lord and savior.
