Call to Worship (Responsive)
Adapted from Psalm 8
L: O LORD, our LORD, how majestic is your Name in all the earth!
P: You have set your glory above the heavens.
L: When we look to the heavens, the work of your hands;
P: What are human beings that you are mindful of us?
L: Yet, you have made us a little lower than God,
P: You have crowned us with glory and honor.
L: You have given us dominion over the works of your hands.
P: O LORD, our LORD, how majestic is your Name in all the earth!
Invocation:
Wonderful, Majestic, Holy One; we come together at your call, and sing your praises, and offer our prayers. We come in a spirit of unity, seeking to agree in your light. We come with prayers to live in peace, in the midst of your love and peace. We come seeking Your love, O God, the communion of the Holy Spirit, and the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ
Stewardship Moment:
In the midst of the creation story, when God forms humans in God’s own image, God blessed the people saying “. . . have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” With that blessing, came also responsibility to care for all of those things. Friends, that is stewardship. To care for all of God’s creation, even for the least of these. When we bring together our gifts for the work of God’s people, we are practicing care for all of creation. And when God sees us working together, God says “It is good.”
Offertory Prayer:
Bless these gifts O God, and use them in your service. We offer them out of love for you and all you have created. We ask you guide us to use them to further the reach of your love to all the earth.
Communion Meditation:
When Jesus gave the remaining Disciples the Great Commission, he told the Disciples not only to go into all nations, baptizing; but also “teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.” One of those commands was to break the bread and drink the cup in remembrance of Jesus. Today, we come together again, ready to follow the command of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
