The Center for Faith and Giving is pleased to announce that the Reverend Kory Wilcoxson will become the newest writer of its popular weekly lectionary-based worship resource. Kory will replace the Reverend Linda McKiernan-Allen who has created the widely used resource for the past two years.
“This is by far the most popular item on our website”, said Bruce Barkhauer, Director of the Center for Faith and Giving. “We get 300-400 landings on this page every week, plus we have a subscription mailing list that delivers the resource directly to inboxes every week. Our goal has been to provide both clergy and lay leadership with quality resources for their worship life together that emphasizes faithful stewardship.”
This is not the first contribution to the Center for Faith and Giving made by Wilcoxson, who has served as the Sr. Minister at Crestwood Christian Church in Lexington, KY, for the past ten years. He was the editor of the educational resource “Overflowing” produced by the Center for Faith and Giving that was created to interpret the Study Document on Stewardship in the 21st Century received at the 2017 General Assembly in Indianapolis, IN. This free resource has been downloaded over 700 times by Disciples across the United States and Canada.
“I am so pleased to have Kory join our team in this particular way. He has great gifts and the whole church is fortunate they will be able to benefit from them in this way”, Barkhauer said.
Kory is a graduate of Indiana University (Bloomington), holds a Master’s in communications from Ohio University (Athens), a Master of Divinity degree from Christian Theological Seminary (Indianapolis, IN), and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry from Lexington Theological Seminary (Lexington, KY). He has served the church in many capacities including as moderator of the Kentucky Region for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), chair of the Regional Restructure Team, and currently heads their Regional Minister Search Team. He served for six years as a member of the Board of Directors for the Council on Christian Unity, the last two years as the moderator. He has also worked with the boards of Week of Compassion and Lexington Theological Seminary.
