Cultivating Generosity
The Center for Faith and Giving exists to create a culture of generosity across the life of the whole church. Our mission is to encourage and promote the understanding of stewardship as a faith discipline and life practice in response to a generous God.
Stewardship is a Way of Life
Christian stewardship is grateful and responsible use of God’s gifts in the light of God’s purpose as revealed in Jesus Christ. Christian stewards, empowered by the Holy Spirit, commit themselves to conscious, purposeful decisions.
We live as faithful stewards by:
– Embodying and proclaiming the Good News
– Sharing God in seeking justice, peace, and the integrity of creation in an interdependent universe
– Wisely employing God-given human resources, abilities, and relationships
– Sharing the material resources we hold and giving them in service, justice, and compassion
– Providing for future generations
– Sharing in the life, worship, and responsible stewardship of the Church and of its mission
Both for the individual and for the community, stewardship is a joyful act for the sake of God’s world.
Board of Stewards
The Center for Faith and Giving believes ministry is stronger when we do it together. We utilize partnerships across the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)—in its general, regional, and congregational expressions—as well as with ecumenical organizations and educational institutions that share a commitment to teaching stewardship as a spiritual practice and cultivating lives of generosity.
The Center for Faith and Giving is a recognized and ongoing ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), working through the Office of General Minister and President.
Our ministry is overseen by a Board of Stewards, whose election to service is confirmed by the General Board of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Executive Director
Rev. Melissa R. St. Clair serves as Executive Director of the Center for Faith and Giving and, in that role, as Minister for Faith & Giving for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada.
Melissa brings 16+ years of congregational leadership in Disciples churches, most recently as Senior Minister of Heart of the Rockies Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fort Collins, Colorado. Throughout her ministry, she has helped congregations strengthen stewardship practices, lead successful capital campaigns, and build innovative partnerships that put resources to work for both church and community.
Before being called to this position, Melissa served on CFG’s Board of Stewards. She brings to this ministry a deep commitment to generosity as a way of life —and a conviction that faithful stewardship is about far more than funding the church’s budget. It is about helping people and congregations use what has been entrusted to them in service of God’s mission.
Melissa is passionate about welcoming diverse voices to the table, asking faithful questions, and helping churches discover that faithful stewardship isn’t a burden-it’s a gift.
