For those ready to take another step in generosity
Growing givers are already participating financially in the life of the congregation, but may not yet have developed a consistent or intentional giving practice. The invitation here is not simply to “give more.” It is to consider generosity more purposefully and connect giving with faith.
Use this letter to celebrate participation, tell a compelling story about ministry, and invite the recipient to consider what their next faithful step might be.
Sample Letter
Dear [NAME],
Thank you for being part of [Congregation Name] and for the ways you help make our shared ministry possible. Every gift matters—not simply because of what it funds, but because together our gifts become something larger than any one of us could accomplish alone.
They become [name specific examples: meals shared with neighbors, children discovering they are loved by God, meaningful worship, care offered during difficult seasons, advocacy in the community, etc.]. They become ministry.
That is one of the things I love about generosity: what we give does not remain what it was. A financial gift becomes welcome, compassion, learning, justice, worship, and hope.
As we begin [Campaign Name], our congregation is considering where God is calling us in the year ahead—and what it will take for us to respond faithfully.
I hope you will also take some time to consider your own practice of giving.
Your next step might be to move from occasional giving to a regular practice. You might choose a percentage of your income as a guide, or decide to grow from where you are by increasing what you already give. There is no single faithful answer for everyone. What matters is that we make the decision intentionally, prayerfully, and with gratitude for what God has entrusted to us.
Generosity grows through practice. Each time we choose to share what we have, we loosen our grip on the idea that there will never be enough and learn again to trust in the abundance of God.

Remember: Make It Yours
The most effective stewardship letter sounds like your congregation, not a template. Before sending, add a story, name a ministry, and give people a glimpse of what their generosity makes possible. Specificity turns a good letter into an invitation people can see themselves in. Sign the letter by hand. Make sure names are correct in the address. The details make a difference! They show genuine care for the person receiving the letter and remind them that faithful stewardship is always about people, not simply dollars.
