Offering Invitations will provide pastors and worship leaders with biblically grounded reflections that connect giving with gratitude, mission, and God’s ongoing work of love, justice, and renewal.
Generosity Belongs in Worship
Just as we pray, praise, study scripture, proclaim what we believe, and gather at Christ’s table, we make space to give in response to our generous God. How we worship for one hour each week should bear some resemblance to how we intend to live in God’s world the rest of the time.
The most effective offering invitations model the generosity they seek to inspire. They point toward God, connect our gifts with mission, and acknowledge the many ways we can give—without shying away from the importance of financial generosity.
About the Collection
The reflections and prayers in this collection are written by pastors and theologians who are part of the circle of Bethany Fellows (current fellows and alums), a thriving spiritual community offering support, inspiration, and renewal to young clergy serving congregations and local communities of faith.
Developed in partnership with the Center for Faith & Giving, these offering invitations are intended to help congregations move beyond obligatory or routine offering language. Each invitation creates an intentional moment in worship through which people can respond to God’s generosity with their own.

Many invitations explicitly encourage financial giving. Others widen our understanding of generosity to include the many ways we offer ourselves to God and one another. All remind us that generosity is a spiritual practice woven into a whole life of faith.
